What is Trauma?

After experiencing a frightening or perceived life-threatening event, there can be psychological remnants remaining. This psychological harm can impact a persons ability to cope or function as they usually would, can change a persons pattern of thoughts and keep us hard-wired in survival mode.

This harm is known as trauma.

Each individual experiences and processes a potentially traumatic event differently with some people showing evidence of trauma moments after the event, and others years later.  At HARA, we meet you where you are as you process what has happened to you. We take a trauma - informed approach to every person, asking "what has happened to you?" rather than "what is wrong with you?".

At HARA, we believe that you know yourself best, and support you on your journey through trauma by taking a collaborative approach to the therapy journey. We are guided by the principles of safety, trust, empowerment, collaboration, choice, and respect for diversity.
